We made it back! Drew was such a little trooper. That 20+ hour flight was hard on us adults, so I can only imagine what a baby is thinking during that ordeal. But, he did better than expected. He cried very little, even though he only slept about 3 hours of that 20+ hour endeavor. The worst part for him was the first, short flight from Incheon, ROK to Narita, Japan.
One of the worst parts of the trip was, strangely enough, Chicago O'Hare. We had to go through baggage claim, then Immigration to bring him into the country, then Customs, then we had to re-check the baggage, and then we had to go from the International terminal to the Domestic terminal. And, we had less than two hours to make the next flight. And, in spite of the "always looking to not help you" staff at O'Hare, we somehow made it. This is going to sound like a joke, but we both agree that the English spoken was better in both Korea and Japan than in O'Hare. Through all of the lines and poor English, Drew never complained.
Christine is such a great momma. Andrew has not attached to his old man, yet, and he will only let his momma hold him for long periods. We unfortunately left our stroller in the guest house in Seoul. Christine held him, rocked him, kissed him, fed him, and walked with him from Seoul to Lexington.
We are attaching a picture of Andrew's first time at home. He has been such a good and happy boy!
What a sweet 1st family photo. Sorry I missed your arrival last night. Just let me know when you are ready for visitors and we'll come and see you guys. Can't wait to meet him in person!
ReplyDeleteThe boys and I got online this morning and OMG he is so adorable! the boys said in stereo..."awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" Then Eric quickly added, "I bet he will want to play in our toys!" hahaha He does not have a clue! I can't wait to cuddle with my new nephew. So happy that he made the trip so well. You all seem so happy and I couldn't be more excited for you. Love you lots, Sis and the boys

You three are such a beautiful family!! Thank you for doing this blog so we can all be a part of the journey! We can't wait to see you guys and hug on the little man!!
ReplyDeleteBTW, this is Beth, not some anonymous creep--don't know why it keeps putting my school project name instead of me...
ReplyDeleteThanks, you sweeties!!! This is so fun to read!
ReplyDeleteI want to correct David--the little guy is attaching to him, too! He will let David feed him, play with him, love on him, and hold him, but when he's all worked up, he likes my left shoulder, which is why he stayed there the whole flight.
Welcome home, Andrew!! I'm so thrilled for the 3 of you!! :)
ReplyDeletesee you Sunday...Boosh and Sandj are heading out this morning....what fun...can't wait to see you all. Love, Keb
